EveryRemote Privacy Policy
What stays on your device
The TVs you add, their names and pairing keys, your favorite channels, scenes and settings are stored only on your device (and shared between your own devices through Apple's or Google's own system features, such as your Apple Watch). We never receive them.
Your local network
EveryRemote looks for TVs, streaming boxes and IR blasters on your home Wi-Fi and sends them commands directly. This traffic stays inside your home network.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Local network: to find and control your TVs. Nothing leaves your home network.
- Location (iPhone and iPad): only to read the name of the Wi-Fi network you're on, so you can check your phone and TV are on the same one. EveryRemote never sees or stores where you are.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only while the microphone button is on, to speak a search. Your speech is turned into text on your device, and nothing you say is sent anywhere.
- Photos and videos: only the ones you pick yourself in Show on TV, to play on your TV.
Each permission is optional. If you say no, the rest of the app keeps working.
Family help (optional)
Family help lets you press buttons on a family member's TV from your own phone. It's off until you create or accept an invite, and it uses no accounts. When it's on:
- Your phones connect through Google Firebase (Realtime Database, anonymous sign-in and, on Android, Cloud Messaging for wake-ups) and a small Cloudflare Worker that we run.
- Every button press, reply, photo and video is encrypted on the sending phone with AES-256-GCM. The key travels only inside the invite link you share, so Google, Cloudflare and Appsoft Inc cannot read what's sent.
- Encrypted messages are held only for a few seconds until the other phone collects them. Encrypted photo and video parts are deleted as soon as the other phone has them, and anything left behind is deleted automatically within one day.
- Firebase gives each phone a random anonymous ID, and an Android phone being helped shares a push token so it can be woken up. These aren't linked to your name, email or phone number.
- Turning family help off, or removing a family member, stops all of this.
Purchases
EveryRemote Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your name or payment details.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with Apple or Google in your device settings, they may share anonymous crash reports with us. We use them only to fix bugs.
What we don't do
- No advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
- No selling or sharing of your information.
- No tracking across other companies' apps and websites.
Children
EveryRemote is made for a general audience and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
